Peruvian / New York Indie Artist Corina Bartra – return to visit ESpiritE-Radio7 Featuring her new CD Cielo Sandunguero – Sandunguero Sky.  On her last visit with Nesheba, we featured Corina’s CD’s Azú and Saraswati Inti Projects.   Since Corina’s last visit she’s been quite busy, as apart of performances with Arturo O’ Farrill, The Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra, and 115 Voice Choir in New York City Music Marathon.

Corina’s new CD Cielo Sandunguero – Sandunguero Sky is another example that truly expresses her gift as a vocalist, musician, and her inner spirit of joy, and zeal for life.
Smooth, beautiful sophisticated jazz and contemporary world singer from Peru? -Yes, Peru. In the last 100 years jazz has spread to every section of the globe, bringing forth fine Latin jazz musicians from New York, Cuba and Brazil; Corina Bartra is originally from Peru...

Corina is the first vocalist to blend Afro Peruvian and Criolla music & Jazz. She also pioneered subtle and exciting instrumental textures in her compositions and her arrangements. She writes extensive intros, interludes, and solos filled with inventive rhythms and beautiful harmonies. She also guides her musicians to do so. With this approach, she adds an instrumental section to her unique & historic projects.

Corina Bartra has degrees in jazz percussion from (name schools) and a Master in vocal performance. Like so many jazz masters before her, Corina Bartra resides in the New York area (when she is not in Peru) where she not only plays but can study the works of all those artists who came before her, building the international sound of jazz to what it is today. Corina is the recipient of the prestigious Queens Council on the Arts award in 2008. Her vocals from “Bambu Sun” stand apart from the crowd.

So, sit back relax have a cup of coffee, tea, or a glass of wine, enjoy some good conversation, and music with Corina Bartra…

New York Indie Artist The Kobolds featuring EP II Debut

Peace, Love, & Global Harmony to All of God’s Rainbow Tribes…

Band Members:  Andrew, Spencer, Nicholas, and Alex

New York Indie Artist The Kobolds featuring EP II Debut.  Time to loose’in up with a little alternative rock, with an under tone of funk.  The Kobolds began playing music together as teenagers in College Station, Texas. Then transitioned to New York to pursue degrees at N.Y.U.  Alex and Nick enlisted Pennsylvanian drummer Andrew Benson from a local Guitar Center.

Using intense intimidation tactics, Alex, Nick, and Andrew coerced their long-time friend from Texas, Spencer Synwolt, to start a new life in New York and round out the rock quartet.  This is a wonderful example of synchronizing talent from within your network resources.

So sit back have a cup of coffee, tea, or a glass of wine, and enjoy some good conversation & music with “The Kobolds” and be inspired…

New York Indie Artist Jennings Featuring CD Debut ““Collapse Collide”

Peace, Love, & Global Harmony to All of God’s Rainbow Tribes…

New York Indie Artist Jennings Featuring CD Debut ““Collapse Collide” is an awesome reflection of powerful lyrics, vocals, and range of music fusion that captivates a representation of who Jennings is.  Her vocal expression throughout takes you away, if one closes their eyes you will find yourself traveling to where she wants you to journey…  Jennings is clearly gifted and has a way of just flowing like water from one track to the next, enticing you to want to just escape for that moment in time of reflection.  Additionally, Jennings shares her very heart & soul in an intense way on this CD.

Standing just a shade over five feet tall, Jennings delivers a robust and heartfelt sound that is anything but small-scale. Her music reflects an enormous strength and drive that is uniquely hers, combining a deep range of rock and pop influences with an unabashed sense of vintage style that few, if any, could ever pull off. “I believe that the difference between an artist and the average person is a fearless and relentless willingness to expose their quarks, oddities, secrets, and passions for all of the world to see and hear.” says Mary.

Recent years have seen Mary’s musical aspirations starting to take shape. She has worked with Billboard-charting songwriters, toured with national acts and has had a number of her songs placed on popular television shows. While the professional growth and the accolades that have accompanied it are nice, it is still the simple act of connecting with a live audience that she values the most. “Live performances give me such a rush. It is one of the best parts about being a musician. To me, it was what really brings the music to life. To know that you only have a few moments to capture and audience and keep them engaged long enough to fall in love with you and your music is a difficult task, but one that I wouldn't trade for any other profession.”

Now, that growth continues with the release of Jennings’ latest album, “Collapse Collide”. It’s a project that reflects an artist, and a woman, who has confidently found her voice over the course of a long, and at times, heart-breaking journey and the beginning of what many have already predicted: a bright and promising future for a truly one-of-a-kind talent.

So, sit back relax have a cup of coffee, tea, or a glass of wine and enjoy some good conversation and music with Jennings

New York Indie Artist, Musician, Composer, and Producer Itaal Shur Featuring CD Beyond Tomorrow

Itaal Shur
Itaal Shur

***Yes, the show is live right after our music intro: Itaal Shur - Pre Med Beyond Tomorrow***

New York Indie Artist, Musician, Composer, Songwriter and Producer Itaal Shur Featuring CD “Beyond Tomorrow”.  Inspired by family influence and natural born generational talent, dedication, determination, and truly blessed by the doors / windows of opportunity.  Itaal’s gift and love for music has traveled him through a wonderful journey throughout his musical career.  Passion, soul, the spirit of music, Brazilian inspirations, peace, and quality of life are apart of the fuses and ingredients that incorporate some of the overall talent bestowed within Itaal.

Itaal’s freedom to compose and create a dynamic body of work is afforded to a special few artists of each generation, musicians who deftly coordinate the chemistry of exceptional talent and exceptional opportunity. Itaal Shur is one of these rare and free musical craftsmen, with a career that includes top-shelf status as a songwriter, producer, and a Grammy Award for Song of the Year for the multi-Platinum hit “Smooth,”, recorded by Carlos Santanna and Rob Thomas. Having experienced great success in the commercial music industry and the diverse array of opportunities that comes along with it, Shur has marked his career with the same innate eclecticism that marks his person. He is never just one thing. He fills several roles, in several styles and genres, and in this way his music is defined not by what he does, but who he is.

In addition to writing the music for the Grammy-winning “Smooth,” which has sold over 30 million copies worldwide and is the 2nd most successful song of all time on the Billboard Charts, Shur has composed and produced for several artists including Jewel, Ricky Martin, Maxwell, Lucy Woodward, Groove Collective, and most recently, himself. Feeling akin to fellow producer/performers like Todd Rundgren, Peter Gabriel, Daniel Lanois, and Beck, Shur has made his solo record debut with “Beyond Tomorrow”. Completely his from the ground up, Shur moved forward heart-first into Beyond Tomorrow, honoring his sense of artistic duty to maintain a rich, soulful experience in his music, and responding to his spiritual journey that led him to make this record at this time. “I had an emotional need to make this record,” says Shur. “After years of success in servicing the needs of the pop music market, it was time to create a record that expresses the deeper essence of who I am right now, and that’s what Beyond Tomorrow does for me. It’s an accurate account of who I am as a musician. It’s a telling of my daily emotional journey.” As such, Itaal and co-producer Eber Pinheiro conceived a collection of original songs that is desirous, effusive, and cool, mating the revelatory/contemplative/mysterious with the sexy/fun/provocative.

So, sit back relax have a cup of coffee, tea, or a glass of wine and enjoy some good conversation and music with “Itaal Shur”.

New York Indie Artist Leslie DiNicola Featuring CD “It Resembles Fiction”

LeslieDiNicola
LeslieDiNicola

New York Indie Artist Leslie DiNicola Featuring CD “It Resembles Fiction”, expresses her journey and evolution of life thus far to bring us this awesome CD.  Leslie has fused a touch of rock, country, into a soulful expression that allows us to travel through her thoughts of some of life’s experiences.   Despite Leslie’s moving from place to place while growing up, she still managed to embrace life and what it has to offer.  Leslie hasn’t allowed that to hold her back in anyway she over came any potential negative it could have taken…

One of the wonderful examples of embracing life is Leslie pursued her education and graduated from Syracuse University, nurtured & developed her musical career.  Continued to evolve by traveling to places like French Polynesia, Tonga, and Fiji and enjoys sailing.

Sitting across from Leslie DiNicola, you get the feeling that you’re sipping coffee with Sandra Bullock or Jennifer Aniston- the sexy “girl next door.” But when she opens her mouth on stage, she unleashes the soulful blues diva that will rock your world. Not many artists today can dazzle 38,000 people at Citi Field and then, moments later, take the stage at an intimate club like Googie’s Lounge and captivate the audience with merely a whisper into the microphone.

Over the past year, Leslie has built an impressive following of fans and played packed shows at classic NYC venues such as Crash Mansion, Arlene's Grocery, Fontana's, and Googie’s Lounge. This summer she embarked on her first mini-tour, during which, the highlight was being asked to sing the National Anthem for the Atlanta Braves on two separate occasions. Once in Atlanta at Turner Field, then, again, in New York at Citi Field. Since that time, Leslie has been sought after by nearly every major New York sports team to perform the Anthem, including a performance at the famed Madison Square Garden for the NY Rangers. As Leslie DiNicola's songs continue to reach a wider audience, it is easy to imagine her playing sold out shows for thousands of fans every night.

New York Indie Artist, Poet and Activist Lauren O’Brien Featuring CD “Inconsequential Dream”

Lauren O' Brien Lauren O

New York Indie Artist, Poet and Activist Lauren O’Brien Featuring CD “Inconsequential Dream”.   Lauren commands thought provoking poetry & lyrics to voice the political activist from within.  This passion is blended with her performance and the awesome musicians that synergize arrangement to life.  Thereby, captivating you to listen intently to become engaged and inspired.  “I love rock ’n’ roll, the passion and rebelliousness of it,” says Lauren. “But I want to be part of it in my own way—I want to take poetry and rock it out.”

Which is exactly what Lauren does—and then some—on Inconsequential Dream, her astonishing debut album. Take “color code,” a menacing, tension-rich rumination on love’s blurred lines of communication (“The colors in our code system / seem to keep switching on me”). Or the hard-hitting title track, which was inspired by the numerous mystic predictions about the year 2012 and the letting go of old ideas in order to live more fully in the new age (“Try to survive / it’s time / the quickening / the great purifying”). And then there’s “To Let Someone,” an acoustic guitar-laced allegory likening newfound spiritual energy to the acceptance of a former lover’s new mate (“To let someone / who is loved / by the one who used to love you / into your home / Well that is the thing/ that takes / the most courage”).

Lauren’s own ride began in her suburban hometown of East Meadow, Long Island, where she found herself drawn to the arts and political activism. “I organized a protest against fur at the mall when I was in fifth grade,” says with a laugh. There was music and culture in the house; her father played guitar and her mother, a teacher, played piano and exposed her to literature and theater. Inspired by the beat writers, Lauren took to poetry early on.
Following music lessons she went on to study acting, met groundbreaking director Polina Klimovitskaya, and spent three years with the professor’s avant-garde troupe, Terra Incognita Theater. Lauren credits Klimovitskaya’s “psycho-physical” method as a strong influence on her own approach to performing, and began to utilize it when she started participating in poetry readings.

So, sit back relax have a cup of coffee, tea, or a glass of wine and enjoy good conversation and music with Lauren O’ Brien.

New York Indie Artist “Tin Pan” Featuring their CD “Hound’s Tooth” and More…

Tin Pan
Tin Pan

New York Indie Artists “Tin Pan” Featuring their CD “Hound’s Tooth” and more.  Diversification of sound and influences is what this talented group delivers i.e. Alternative, Blues, Roots, Americana, Soul, and Jazz as an example.  This allows music to just flow with freedom, as it should through artists who know how to in fuse it to the next level.  Tin Pan’s music transcends time from then to now flowing seamlessly letting the spirit of music touch those that listen, this in and of it self is a gift.

Tin Pan members Jesse Selengut on trumpet, lead vocals and compositions, Clifton Hyde on guitar and hollerin’, Stefan Zeniuk on reeds and boy soprano vocals, and Peter “Baby Hands” Maness on bass and some singin’, Tin Pan evokes everything from Fats Waller and Louis Armstrong to Irving Berlin and Hoagy Carmichael. Founded in 2006 by Selengut, a long time New York based musician, and the curator of the Williamsburg Jazz Festival, the band sprung from what he calls, “a need for this kind of music.” He elaborates, “As soon as I started playing this music, it just felt so easy and natural. It’s simplicity demands that you be totally committed to it – there’s no hiding behind theory or pose.”

Finding players to fit his vision was challenging, but when Selengut met Mississippi native Clifton Hyde, who has played with Lou Reed, Debbie Harry, Blue Man Group and others, he knew he found the right man. “I auditioned about 25 different guitarists,” Jesse recalls, “and right away I knew Clifton was perfect. He’s experienced with blues and jazz but isn’t constrained by excessive training. And he has an intuitive understanding of what dancers need.” Stefan Zeniuk entered the picture through Clifton, bringing in a touch of the avant-garde to the proceedings. “I’m not even sure Stefan is that interested in jazz. He’s just got incredible energy – (saxophonist) Tim Berne was his babysitter. I think that affected him for life,” says Selengut with a laugh. Bassist Pete “Baby Hands” Maness was chosen because when we discovered that he could slap the bass, spin the bass, and get every girl’s phone number all in the same tune.

So, sit back relax have a cup of coffee, tea, or a glass of wine, and enjoy good conversation & music.  Oh, don’t forget to spread the news and join us…
